Grandmaster Music

 

Master Gary Music began training in Sang Moo Kwan Taekwondo in 1972 at the age of 12. Sang Moo Kwan Taekwondo is an offshoot of Shotokan Karate-do. He attained the rank of first Dan in 1976 at the Gary Harris Taekwondo Institute in Mansfield Ohio. He also started weight training at this time with his father James C. Music, (101st Airborne Korean War Vet) who also taught Mr. Music shooting, fighting and survival skills. These skills were later honed in a 22 year career in the military as a USAF aviator and parachute rigger specialist. Mr. Music also worked as a FAA Air Traffic Controller and a subject matter expert on South American airlift and security. From 1998 to 2000 Major Music was the USAF go to man for South American operations ending his AF career in 2002 as the worldwide program manager for all C-130 Aircrew Training.

 

During Master Music’s 22 years in the military he traveled worldwide searching out instructors in Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Philippines and Thailand honing his hard style striking skills and becoming the countries leading authority on old style kata training and advanced bunkai. Sensei Music also hold a black belt in Ju-jitsu, training with notable instructors such as Dr. Don Smith (taught by Don Dreager at the Kodokan) and John Saylor founder of Shin Gi Tai Ju-jitsu. Sensei Music?s primary instructors are the noted Aikido and Karate Master Vic Louis, Kempo Master the late Stan Hart, kicking master and fighter the legendary Bill Wallace. Master Music also studied in seminar only forum with Master Oyata and Master Odo.

 

Master Music continued his study of Karate-Do to this day attaining 6th Dan ranking in Shotokan Karate-Do and Taekwondo. He also is ranked 8th Dan in Shurite Kempo, and is the Grand Master for the Shurite Kempo Technique Association.  Master Music began studying Shurite Kempo in 1981 with the noted kempo Master Stan Hart. Master Music's rank is certified through the AIKA and SKTA. 

 

 

Master Music also trained and worked as a sparring partner with notable amateur and professional boxers, Corky Gomez Golden Gloves Champion, Chris Carney Golden Gloves Champ and pro boxer, and Professional Boxer Prince Charles Williams IBF Light Heavy Weight World Champion. Master Music used this valuable experience to improve his karate point fighting skills. Mr. Music’s kettle bell training began in 1997 (hardstyle 2006) from his Martial Arts Sensei and in his basement as a self training hobby. In 2009 Master Music decided to search out the leading authority on kettle bells and receive formal training from Pavel Tsatsouline and the RKC/SFG staff. He is now a certified Level II instructor in hard style kettle bell training.
